Go into the world of
fairytales of the nature of Ahrntal - only a few steps away from the "Ahrner
Wirt" and without missing the comforts of the centre of St. Johann.
 Getting here by
car
The fastest way to get to the Wirt an der Ahr Hotel by car is via the
Brennerautobahn. Get off at the Brixen/Bressanone exit and drive into the
Puster Valley towards Bruneck/Brunico and Innichen/San Candido. Just before
Bruneck/Brunico (right after you´ve driven across the Rienz River), turn
right towards Bruneck West/Tauferer Ahrn Valley). Right after the exit turn
left and drive under the bridge towards Bruneck/Brunico. At the big
roundabout drive towards Tauferer Ahrn Valley/Pfalzen. After about 1 km,
turn right and drive across the Ahr River (not at the first wooden bridge,
at the second bridge). Drive on the Bruneck Nord bypass until you come to
the traffic lights. Then turn left into the Tauferer Ahrn Valley and stay on
the main road until St. Johann. The Wirt an der Ahr Hotel is nearby the
church.
If you´re coming from Innichen/San Candido (e.g. Tauernautobahn), take the
Bruneck Ost exit. In Bruneck/Brunico turn right towards Tauferer Ahrn Valley
(there´s a small gas station on the right-hand side) and stay on the main
road until St. Johann.
Getting here by
train
Your destination when traveling here by train is Bruneck/Brunico. The north/south
railroad line goes via Innsbruck, Brenner, Bozen/Bolzano. You usually have
to change trains in Franzensfeste/Fortezza. The east/west railroad line goes
via Lienz, Innichen/San Candido, Franzensfeste/Fortezza. Once in
Bruneck/Brunico, you can then either take the bus, which usually leaves
directly from the train station, or take a taxi.
You should be prepared for longer waiting periods (approx. 1 hr) in
Franzensfeste/Fortezza, where you´ll be changing trains. If need be, a
continuation of your journey to Puster Valley (get off in Bruneck/Brunico)
is also possible by bus.
